Kuala lumpur: A total of RM5.33 million from the Daya Kerjaya fund has been successfully recovered from 426 employers suspected of making false claims for the incentive. Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed announced the recovery, highlighting the organization's efforts to combat fraudulent activities.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, RM1.5 million of the fund had been returned by 52 employers after they admitted their involvement in the criminal activities. The issue was first identified by PERKESO's Anti-Fraud, Ethics and Integrity (AFEI) section at the end of 2024, which led to an internal investigation and subsequent field intelligence operations.
Dr Mohammed Azman explained that detailed intelligence from AFEI identified 426 employers suspected of engaging in these criminal activities. These findings were subsequently handed over to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in August 2025 for further action.
He further mentioned that he directed AFEI to collaborate with the MACC to execute Op Daya on June 9. "The success of the operation that uncovered the fake claims activity is the result of the implementation of existing governance at PERKESO, assisted by artificial intelligence (AI) technology facilities," he stated.
On the day of the operation, the MACC arrested 73 individuals, including agents and company owners, across the country except in Perlis. These individuals were suspected of being involved in a syndicate falsifying claims related to the 2.0 Career Incentive Programme, with a total value of approximately RM9 million.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the fraudulent activities took place between 2024 and 2025. The accused are suspected of making false claims involving government employment assistance, which provided RM1,500 per month for six months for each worker employed by private sector employers and government-linked companies (GLCs).
