Balance Modern Technology With Moral Integrity – Anwar

Bukit gambir: Mastery of modern technology and new disciplines needs to be balanced with the application of strong moral values and integrity to produce a generation that can contribute meaningfully to the country's progress. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the need for this balance, highlighting the government's strong encouragement of exploring future fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital technology, and quantum computing.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar stated that achievements in technological knowledge would lack meaning if not guided by faith and a solid moral foundation. He expressed concerns that an imbalance between knowledge and ethics could lead to societal harm, particularly when intelligent individuals misuse their skills for fraudulent or treacherous purposes. "Gaining knowledge is to be smart, yes, but the main thing is to seek the truth and become a good human being," Anwar remarked during the Sentuhan Sahabat Madani Programme in Bukit Gambir.

Anwar further elaborated on his commitment to prioritizing allocations for education, higher education, science, technology, and research and development (R and D) sectors at the university level. He voiced regret over the past misallocation of state funds worth tens of billions of ringgit, funds that he believes should have been utilized to advance the education agenda for young people. "If this country had not been destroyed first, more would have been spent to help these children," he lamented.

The Prime Minister also stressed his responsibility and integrity, stating, "I cannot use my power as Prime Minister to steal the people's money, to enrich myself and my children." Anwar's remarks underscore his commitment to ensuring that resources are used appropriately to foster a knowledgeable and morally grounded generation.
