Fair weather continues; danger level heat index forecast in 44 areas

MANILA: Generally fair weather will continue to prevail across the country due to the easterlies, the weather bureau said Wednesday. The easterlies could also cause isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. It added that severe thunderstorms could result in flash floods or landslides. The heat index could peak at 46 degrees in Virac (Synop), Catanduanes; Roxas City, Capiz; Butuan City, Agusan del Norte. Heat indices of 42 to 45 degrees are also forecast in the following areas: NAIA, Pasay City Science Garden, Quezon City, Metro Manila Laoag City, Ilocos Norte Dagupan City, Pangasinan Aparri, Cagayan Sangley Point, Cavite Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas Iloilo City, Iloilo Bacnotan, La Union Tuguegarao City, Cagayan ISU, Echague, Isabela Iba, Zambales San Jose, Occidental Mindoro Puerto Princesa City, Palawan Aborlan, Palawan Cuyo, Palawan Dumangas, Iloilo Catarman, Northern Samar Guiuan, Eastern Sa mar Maasin, Southern Leyte Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte CLSU Munoz, Nueva Ecija Cubi Point, Subic Bay, Olongapo City Coron, Palawan Daet, Camarines Norte Masbate City, Masbate La Granja, La Carlota, Negros Occidental Siquijor, Siquijor Catbalogan, Samar Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte Sinait, Ilocos Sur Calayan, Cagayan Casiguran, Aurora Alabat, Quezon Mulanay, Quezon Legazpi City, Albay Mambusao, Capiz Tacloban City, Leyte VSU-Baybay, Leyte Borongan, Eastern Samar Under danger level or 41°C to 51°C heat indices, heat cramps, and heat exhaustion are likely. Continued exposure could also cause heat stroke. Meanwhile, the whole archipelago will continue to experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said.
