Rexy Concerned Over Lack Of Depth In Mixed Doubles

Kuala lumpur:<Text>

National doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky has raised concerns over the lack of depth in the country's mixed doubles department, warning that it could create an unhealthy environment for top pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Rexy highlighted the absence of backup players whose performance levels are still at the International Challenge stage. He pointed out that even at the IC level, the players are only reaching the quarter-finals and semi-finals. This, he explained, makes it difficult to push Tang Jie-Ee Wei and poses a potential problem for the team's development.

Rexy noted that he would collaborate with mixed doubles coach Nova Widianto to address the issue and seek ways to enhance the quality of the country's mixed doubles department.

In a separate matter, Rexy confirmed that the top national women's doubles pair, Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah, will compete in the upcoming Singapore Open. The world number two pair had withdrawn from the Malaysia Masters due to Pearly's incomplete recovery from a back injury. At the Singapore Open, Pearly-Thinaah are set to face Taiwan's Hu Ling Fang-Jheng Yu Chieh in the first round.
