The Johor state government has declared a special state holiday on Monday following Johor Darul Ta'zim's (JDT) Malaysia Cup win tonight. The Southern Tigers beat Kuching City FC 2-0 in the final at National Stadium, Bukit Jalil tonight to win their fourth consecutive Malaysia Cup title, the only club to have ever achieved the feat.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced that the declaration was made with the consent of Johor Regent, Tunku Mahkota Ismail. This move is in appreciation of the unwavering support from the Johor people and Southern Tiger fans for their team. Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi expressed that the victory is a gift for Bangsa Johor and the supporters who have consistently backed the team through all challenges in every match and season.
He shared his sentiments on Facebook, offering congratulations to the players, coaches, team management, and the entire JDT fraternity.
