Nilai: The suspect involved in the explosion in Desa Palma, Nilai, is believed to have technical knowledge and special skills in making explosives. Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad shared insights based on devices and equipment seized from the rented house of Yeoh Hock Sun, 62, which included explosive devices, flammable cleaning agents, and elements like carbon and sulphur.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, investigations revealed the suspect had a background in chemistry and had worked in a pharmaceutical factory for three years, coupled with knowledge in information technology. The explosives were found to be in pristine condition, considering the materials and devices used, such as timers and sensors. These activities are suspected to have been ongoing for the past six months, as per the authorities.
The suspect is classified as dangerous and "highly wanted" due to his direct involvement in the explosive preparations and a previous criminal case under Section 506 of the Penal Code. An inspection of his house, suspected to be used as a laboratory, uncovered 31 more improvised explosive devices (IEDs), all of which were destroyed by the police.
Alzafny noted that the explosives had an explosion radius of up to 20 meters, with fragments capable of reaching 30 meters. The fragments comprised nails and a finely shredded folding knife, indicating the suspect's proficiency in preparing explosives.
Alzafny highlighted that the suspect is very dangerous, often disguising himself with a face mask, hat, or wig in public. He has a history of aggressive behavior, including separating from his family over 30 years ago and a record of domestic violence.
The police have recorded statements from 14 witnesses and obtained closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings from the area for analysis. Alzafny urged the public to assist in locating the suspect and requested medical centers, clinics, or pharmacies to report any encounter with him, as he is believed to be injured and in hiding.
Despite the severity of his actions, the police believe Yeoh Hock Sun is acting alone and has no ties to terrorist groups or gang activities. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue their search for the suspect following an explosive incident reported last Monday in Desa Palma.
