End Identity Politics, Focus On Economic Performance – Saifuddin Nasution

Melaka: PKR has called for an end to identity and racial politics, instead urging a greater focus on performance-based politics and economic recovery for the well-being of the people. PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who is discharging the duties of the deputy president, stated that identity politics was merely a 'zero-sum game' that would bring no benefit to the country's future.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saifuddin Nasution emphasized the importance of evaluating politics based on economic performance and the well-being of the people, rather than on racial or identity lines. He articulated this vision during his winding-up speech at the 2026 PKR National Congress at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), urging that prosperity should be expanded for everyone's benefit without infringing on individual rights.

Saifuddin, who also serves as Home Minister, highlighted the acceptance of Malaysia's racial diversity as a reality that should not be manipulated to incite fear. He remarked that embracing the various identities within Malaysia is essential, and problems only arise when these identities are used to create division.

He proposed three strategic approaches for the MADANI Government and party leadership: fostering economic growth by expanding prosperity, providing need-based assistance irrespective of race, and maintaining good governance to fight corruption. He asserted that the true threats to communities are poverty and social issues like drug abuse, not racial diversity.

Furthermore, Saifuddin urged party members to intensify efforts in promoting the successes of the MADANI Government, with a particular focus on engaging young voters in anticipation of the upcoming election.
