DAP Reaffirms Commitment to Multiracial Principles, Says Loke

Putrajaya: DAP will remain a multiracial party for all Malaysians, with the principle continuing to form the bedrock of its struggle as the party charts its direction and position in the Unity Government, its secretary-general Anthony Loke said. He emphasized that this stance will stay unchanged, despite ongoing challenges in expanding support across different racial groups after six decades of existence.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Loke stated the importance of upholding the principle that DAP will always be a multiracial party dedicated to all Malaysians. He highlighted that DAP was established with a unique objective to champion justice and freedom for Malaysians, enabling them to have a better life. He delivered these remarks during his policy speech at the DAP Party Conference 2026 held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).

Prominent party figures such as DAP advisers Lim Guan Eng and Tan Kok Wai, national chairman Gobind Singh Deo, national deputy chairman Nga Kor Ming, along with other party leaders, were present at the conference. Loke reiterated that the party's multiracial principle necessitates a struggle that transcends the interests of any specific community, ensuring equal opportunity for every Malaysian to succeed.

He observed that despite DAP's evolution over six decades, from a small group of activists to one of Malaysia's major political parties, its foundational principles remain unaltered. The conference, marking its first occurrence in Putrajaya, aligns with the party's 60th anniversary celebrations.

The conference's highlight is a vote by 4,264 delegates from 1,704 eligible branches, which will determine the party's stance in the Unity Government after the debate concludes.
