Kuala lumpur: Embracing the principles of the Rukun Negara aligns with Islamic teachings that promote brotherhood, mutual respect, justice, and collective responsibility to maintain peace in a multicultural society, according to Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, YADIM's president, Datuk Dr Hasan Bahrom, emphasized that as an institution committed to nation-building and the development of the ummah, YADIM views the values of unity and harmony in the Rukun Negara as consistent with Islamic teachings. He noted that effective dakwah not only strengthens the relationship between humans and Allah SWT but also fosters harmony among people of diverse races and religions.
Dr Hasan cited the decree of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, who urged all Malaysians to embrace the principles of the Rukun Negara as foundations of unity, harmony, and stability. He highlighted that His Majesty's call for proper conduct, restraint in speech, and avoiding provocation aligns with Islamic dakwah values, which emphasize wisdom, prudence, and good moral conduct.
Reflecting on history, Dr Hasan mentioned that the May 13, 1969, incident serves as a reminder of the importance of peace and unity, which have led to opportunities for economic growth and national development. He pointed out that challenges to national unity have emerged in the digital era through misinformation, hate speech, and provocations on social media.
Dr Hasan urged Malaysians to practice 'tabayyun' (verification of information), communicate responsibly, and prioritize facts over sentiment. He stressed that differences in opinion should not undermine interethnic, interreligious, and intercultural ties, which are among Malaysia's strengths.
YADIM believes that the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI can only be realized in an environment of peace, stability, and mutual trust, with dakwah serving as a platform to nurture knowledge, strengthen understanding, and foster unity. Dr Hasan called on Malaysians to heed His Majesty's decree by strengthening national unity and rejecting all forms of hatred and divisive politics for a peaceful and prosperous future.
