Police Prepare for Johor and Negeri Sembilan State Elections: KDNKA Director

Bukit aman: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is fully prepared to ensure security and maintain public order during the upcoming Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections following the dissolution of the State Legislative Assemblies (DUNs) in both states.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA) director, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, stated that the department is currently fine-tuning manpower and logistical requirements to ensure that the entire election process proceeds smoothly, safely, and in an orderly manner. Preliminary preparations are already underway, including identifying personnel requirements at each location and coordinating logistical support based on local needs and challenges.

Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri emphasized that following the dissolution of the DUNs in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, necessary preparations are being made, with a focus on deployment involving human resources and logistics to ensure smooth and controlled election processes. His comments came after he witnessed the handing over of duties to the new Perak police chief, Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin, by the former state police chief, Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin.

The heads of the KDNKA departments in the two states have been instructed to provide detailed briefings on their respective deployment plans. If there is a shortage of personnel in either state, assistance will be sought from neighboring contingents to ensure adequate security coverage throughout the election period.

On logistical requirements, Mohd Yusri mentioned that assessments are still ongoing, as operational demands vary based on factors such as geographical size, terrain, and the number of polling centers. Deployments will be determined based on these assessments.

Mohd Yusri also urged the public to comply with regulations and instructions issued by the authorities and the Election Commission (EC) to ensure the democratic process is conducted peacefully. He called on all parties to cooperate with security personnel to maintain public order and prevent any untoward incidents at polling centers and surrounding areas.

Last Monday, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced the dissolution of the 56-seat Johor State Assembly, effective June 1, after obtaining the consent of the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail. Yesterday, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun announced the dissolution of the 36-seat State Assembly, effective June 5, after receiving consent from the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
