Yong Peng:Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek has initiated a comprehensive review of school management and security after the tragic murder of a female student at a local school.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadhlina emphasized the need for transparency and thoroughness in reviewing student attendance records, security measures, and patrols within the school. She assured that the Education Ministry (MOE) would not conceal any facts related to the incident.
The victim has been identified as Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairoul Faisal, a 16-year-old Form Four student. The security company contracted by the school has been instructed to fully cooperate with the review, and any negligence found will result in stern action.
The MOE is also collaborating with the police and will not interfere with their investigation. Counselling support is being provided to those affected, and the public is urged to respect the investigation and the privacy of the victim's family.
A 16-year-old boy has been detained for six days to aid in the investigation. The suspect was apprehended shortly after the police were notified of the incident, following the discovery of the student unconscious and covered in blood at the school.
