Rabat:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the Early Schooling Aid (BAP) for the 2027 school session has been increased from RM150 to RM200 per student. This adjustment affects 5.3 million students and involves an allocation of RM1 billion.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister, provided details during the tabling of Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat. He noted that families with four children would receive a total of RM800 to prepare for the school year. The aid will be distributed directly at schools, encouraging parental engagement with teachers.
Additionally, the government has agreed to offer a living allowance of RM2,500 to Form Six students, aligning it with the allowance for matriculation students. This initiative is set to benefit 90,000 students.
Furthermore, an allocation of RM870 million has been designated for the Supplementary Food Programme (RMT), which will support over 800,000 pupils. Anwar emphasized that teachers should focus on educating rather than clerical tasks. To support this, the hiring of teaching assistants will be expanded to 200 high-density primary schools, with further increases planned based on an evaluation of the program's effectiveness.
