Budget 2027 Enhances Malaysia’s Disaster Response Capabilities

Jakarta:The recent Budget 2027 announcement includes plans for the procurement of 17 amphibious boats and an increase in volunteer allowances, aimed at enhancing the Malaysia Civil Defence Force's (APM) rescue operations and disaster preparedness. This move underscores the government's dedication to bolstering civil defence capabilities, especially in flood response.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, APM Chief Commissioner Mohammad Abiddin Abd Rahman expressed gratitude for the budget allocation, highlighting that the additional rescue boats and increased allowances for volunteers would address current operational needs and reinforce the disaster management system. He emphasized the importance of strong operational capabilities, supported by well-trained and motivated personnel, in delivering effective civil defence services.

Volunteer allowances have been increased to RM9 per hour for volunteer personnel and RM10.80 for supervisors across the People's Volunteer Corps (RELA), Volunteer Fire Brigade, Police Volunteer Reserve, and Civil Defence Volunteer Force. The allocation of RM339 million is anticipated to benefit nearly 50,000 volunteers.

Mohammad Abiddin reiterated APM's commitment to their mission, guided by the principles of Sedia, Pantas dan Berintegriti (Ready, Fast and With Integrity), ensuring that public safety and protection remain a top priority.
