Kuala lumpur: A demolition operation targeting 68 residential units in Kampung Chubadak Tambahan, Sentul, proceeded smoothly today without any protests or provocations from the residents.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sentul district police chief ACP Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari stated that a total of 206 police officers and members were deployed to assist the court authorities in executing the court order related to the demolition of residences and structures on the land. The presence of law enforcement was deemed necessary to ensure public safety and order throughout the operation.
The police force was strategically divided into six deployment zones corresponding to the groups of houses slated for demolition. Ahmad Sukarno confirmed that there were no reports of objections or provocations from the affected residents.
The eviction process began with a court writ served to the residents on December 5, followed by an eviction notice issued within 14 days of the writ's issuance and delivered on December 26. The demolition action was scheduled to take place today, January 14.
Most residents complied with the operation, although 18 residents in Zone 4 have appointed lawyers to pursue further legal action. The outcome of these legal proceedings will be determined by the court.
The demolition operation involved collaboration with various agencies, including Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), with inspections carried out by the Malaysian Immigration Department two days prior. Ahmad Sukarno anticipated that the operation would be completed by noon or early in the evening, stressing that the enforcement of the Kuala Lumpur High Court order is a measure to address illegal construction and occupation in the area.
Reports have previously indicated that strict measures against illegal structures, unauthorised premises, and unlawful encroachment would be enforced through a vacant possession judgment order at Kampung Chubadak Tambahan.
