DAP Urges Government to Adopt Decisive and Assertive Stance Through Cabinet Channels

Putrajaya: DAP has announced its intention to convey calls for a more decisive and assertive government to the Cabinet, following its decision to remain in the Unity Government. This directive comes from DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, who emphasized the importance of channeling delegates' feedback through the appropriate government channels.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, these calls were prominently voiced during an open debate at the 2026 DAP Party Conference. Delegates were encouraged to express critical views on both the party and the government, reflecting a democratic process within the party. Loke noted that while most delegates voted to remain in the Unity Government, there were critical opinions urging the party and government to adopt a more assertive approach.

Loke reiterated that the feedback from delegates would guide the party leadership as they continue to engage with the government. He emphasized the importance of respecting the majority decision while acknowledging the minority perspective, ensuring no repercussions for those who opposed remaining in the government. The motion to stay received strong support, with 88 percent of delegates voting in favor.

Additionally, Loke addressed claims by political rivals that the conference's agenda was solely DAP-driven. He clarified that the discussed reforms, including the separation of roles between the Attorney-General and Public Prosecutor, the limitation of the Prime Minister's tenure to two terms, and anti-corruption efforts, are part of a shared agenda agreed upon at both the Pakatan Harapan coalition and Federal levels.

Loke stressed the collaborative nature of these reforms, underscoring that they align with the shared manifesto established during the last election, rather than being exclusive to DAP.
