Yong Peng:The Social Welfare Department (JKM) is prepared to offer counseling services to the family of Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal, a Form Four student who was allegedly murdered in a school in Yong Peng, Johor.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, JKM Director-General Datuk Che Murad Sayang Ramjan stated that counselors are available to assist the family whenever they are ready to seek help. He emphasized the importance of allowing the family time and space to grieve, assuring that the department is ready to provide support whenever needed.
Datuk Che Murad expressed his condolences to the family and hoped they would find the strength to cope with their loss. He made these remarks during the closing ceremony of JKM's MADANI Adopted Village Programme 2026 at Kampung Sungai Setar Besar.
Irene Sofiya was found unconscious and covered in blood in the school hall last Saturday around 5.50 pm. The police have arrested three 16-year-old male students to assist in the investigation. One of the students has been remanded for six days until October 9 to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
