Coach Disappointed as Terengganu FC Squanders Two-Goal Lead

Terengganu: Terengganu FC (TFC) head coach Badrul Afzan Razali expressed his disappointment following his team’s 2-2 draw against Kuching City FC in their Super League match at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium. Despite leading 2-0 earlier in the match, TFC failed to secure a win, settling for a single point instead.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Badrul Afzan attributed the unsatisfactory result to his players’ inability to capitalize on scoring opportunities and a lapse in defensive focus. This draw not only jeopardized TFC’s aspirations of finishing in the top three of the Super League but also endangered their current standing in fourth place.

“Tonight, we saw too many weaknesses. I am very disappointed because we conceded two goals in just two minutes. We lost focus. lost concentration,” Badrul Afzan remarked at the post-match press conference. He emphasized that while TFC controlled the match in both halves, complacency allowed their opponents to score easily. The coach also noted that poor finishing continued to plague the team’s performance, despite creating numerous chances.

In contrast, Kuching City FC head coach Aidil Shahrin Sahak lauded his team’s resilience and teamwork. He highlighted that even after trailing 0-2, his players did not relent and managed to secure a point from the away match. Aidil Shahrin expressed hope that his team could maintain their momentum in the upcoming match against Kelantan.

Looking ahead, he acknowledged the challenge of four consecutive away matches, emphasizing the need for hard work to gather as many points as possible despite the exhaustion of travel. Currently, TFC holds fourth place with 28 points from 19 matches, while Kuching City FC, known as the Cats, is close behind in fifth place with 24 points from 18 matches.
