Chow: Penang Govt To Check Development Status Of Taman Manggis Land With Developer

George town: The Penang state government will obtain information from the developer regarding the current status of a piece of land in Taman Manggis, George Town, which is alleged to still be undeveloped despite having been sold for development purposes. Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said that at the moment he does not have detailed information regarding the current progress of the project, but he will seek further clarification from the developer.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chow mentioned that although the land has been sold to the related company and planning permission was granted at some point, no developments have been observed for this project. He intends to acquire the latest update on the company's plans for developing the long-sold land.

Chow's comments followed a call by Penang Gerakan chairman Oh Tong Keong, who requested an explanation from the state government regarding the status of the land. Oh claimed that the land was still neglected and had failed to be developed into a people's housing project.

Chow further explained that the land is owned by a company and any development implementation is the responsibility of that developer. However, the state government plans to review the agreement and the status of the project's implementation before providing detailed comments.
