Bursa Malaysia Aims for RM28 Billion in IPO Market Capitalisation by 2026

Kuala lumpur: Bursa Malaysia Bhd is targeting a total initial public offering (IPO) market capitalisation of RM28 billion for 2026, an increase from the RM27.4 billion achieved in 2025. The company's chief executive officer, Datuk Fad'l Mohamed, announced the goal during a media briefing on the financial results for the fiscal year of 2025.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fad'l stated that Bursa Malaysia intends to prioritize larger and higher-quality listings this year. In the previous year, the exchange recorded 11 Main Market IPOs and aims to maintain a focus on both the Main Market and the ACE Market, which serves as a funding platform for growing companies in Malaysia. Although a higher ratio of ACE Market companies is anticipated, the focus will also remain on attracting sizeable companies to the Main Market.

The previous year saw 11 listings on the Main Market, 44 on the ACE Market, and five on the LEAP Market. Fad'l highlighted that there is strong momentum in both the Main Market and ACE Market, with six IPOs recorded year-to-date. He emphasized the importance of total listings for raising capital for companies.

IPOs on Bursa Malaysia demonstrated strong performance last year, achieving the full-year target of 60 companies, which surpassed the 2024 total of 55 IPOs. Despite the ongoing global challenges stemming from geopolitical and economic uncertainties, Fad'l remarked that the challenging environment has become the new normal for IPO markets.

Fad'l expressed confidence in Malaysia's positive trajectory, supported by policy clarity and improving investor confidence. He believes that big companies will enter the market and that Malaysia will continue to experience growth and increased confidence, bolstered by clear policies and direction.
