Burial Delay Issue: MAIS To Hold Urgent Meeting With Next Of Kin, Involved Parties

Selangor: The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) has directed that an urgent meeting be held between the deceased's next of kin, the management of Masjid Nurul Hidayah, Kampung Pandan Dalam, the Salatulrahim Welfare Organisation (BKS), and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) to resolve the issue surrounding allegations of delays in the burial of a deceased person at the Ukay Perdana Muslim Cemetery in Hulu Kelang.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAIS chairman Datuk Salehuddin Saidin stated that the meeting aims to achieve the best possible resolution for all parties involved while ensuring that a similar incident does not occur in the future. MAIS conveyed its deepest condolences to the affected family and expressed profound sorrow over the ordeal they experienced during their time of grief.

MAIS has assured the public that appropriate action will be taken against any party found responsible based on the findings of the police investigation, whether the matter involves criminal conduct, negligence, or miscommunication among the parties involved. Salehuddin noted that MAIS has taken into account the media statement released by JAIS director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad regarding preliminary investigation findings based on information from the mosque's management.

Salehuddin informed that police reports have been lodged by the mosque management, the deceased's family, and BKS concerning the incident. He urged all parties to allow the police to conduct their investigation transparently and impartially.

In response to the situation, MAIS plans to review the current management of Islamic funeral and burial procedures carried out by mosque managements to identify areas for improvement. This initiative aims to ensure that the management of Muslim deceased persons is conducted responsibly and with integrity, adhering closely to Islamic law requirements.

Salehuddin also encouraged the Muslim community to strengthen the spirit of unity and brotherhood (ukhuwah) and avoid letting differences of opinion become a source of division and hostility.
