Accra:The increase in the allocation for the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) under Budget 2027 reflects the MADANI Government's priority to enhance operational capabilities and strengthen integrated national border management.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MADANI Budget 2027, tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, demonstrates the government's ongoing commitment to bolstering national security, improving public service delivery efficiency, and safeguarding the country's sovereignty.
Under the new budget, AKPS is set to receive RM490 million for 2027, a substantial rise from RM37 million in 2026, marking an increase of over 1,000 percent. This significant boost underscores the priority given by the MADANI Government to improving operational capabilities and integrated border management, reinforcing AKPS' role as the lead agency for national border control and protection.
Additionally, the Home Ministry's allocation of RM22 billion further reflects the government's dedication to enhancing the domestic security ecosystem. The budget also emphasizes strengthening security screening at airports, with plans to install 48 new body and baggage scanners at major international airports across the country.
Looking ahead to 2027, AKPS will focus on enhancing the implementation of the AKPS Service Scheme, boosting the competencies of its officers and the Malaysia Border Guard (MBG), expanding operational readiness at gazetted entry points, and preparing for the full operation of the Johor Bahru-Singapore RTS Link. These efforts aim to ensure that AKPS can effectively manage the increasing movement of people, goods, and cross-border trade.
In pursuit of the MADANI Government's goals, AKPS is committed to using every allocation prudently, transparently, and with high impact, guided by principles of good governance, accountability, and integrity. The agency's priority is to not only secure the country's entry points but also to strengthen public and investor confidence in Malaysia's border management system.
