Anwar Emphasizes Budget 2027 as a National Covenant with the People

Accra:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has highlighted that Budget 2027 represents a covenant between Malaysia's leadership and its citizens, underscoring the importance of implementing it with trust and integrity.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Fifth MADANI Budget, crafted by a comprehensive team from the Ministry of Finance and other ministries, considers the diverse needs of society. It addresses key areas such as economic growth, employment, wages, and minimum income.

Anwar emphasized that the budget is not just a financial plan but a binding agreement between the country's leadership and the people. During a Special MADANI Budget 2027 Interview aired by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), he mentioned that the government considered numerous perspectives from various groups in its formulation.

The Prime Minister noted that under the theme "Reaching for the Skies, While Anchored on Our Values," the budget aims to uphold the dignity and well-being of all citizens. It seeks to improve the quality of life across different societal segments while addressing the challenges they face.

Budget 2027 also highlights issues beyond traditional economic concerns, such as the welfare of gig workers and minimum income, as well as niche areas like cat welfare. Anwar pointed out that while the economy might be growing, the people could still feel burdened, hence the need for a holistic approach to budgeting.

He further explained that the budget reflects the responsible management of the country, with leadership committed to maintaining trust and fulfilling promises. Anwar described it as a "National Covenant" meant to ensure progress leads to a dignified life for Malaysians and strengthens the nation for future generations.

The budget, presented yesterday in the Dewan Rakyat, allocates RM510 billion and outlines eight key pillars focused on improving life quality and enhancing national resilience and future readiness.
