Accra:BrainChip Holdings Ltd has introduced the BrainChip Sequora Core IP, a processor intellectual property core designed to facilitate generative artificial intelligence, such as large language models, on battery-powered edge devices.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sequora core builds upon BrainChip's Akida platform, offering efficiency through a state-space design that maintains constant memory usage regardless of data stream duration. This allows scalability from models with a few million parameters to three billion. The new processor enables devices to not only recognize signals but also understand, explain, and respond to them.
Sean Hehir, BrainChip's CEO, highlighted that customers demand a combined signal classifier and language model in one battery-operated product, which the Akida and Sequora together provide. The Sequora core addresses memory and power limitations, enabling generative AI on battery-powered devices like earbuds and sensor nodes, and pairs with Akida to handle streaming sensor data and run on-device LLMs and AI agents.
The target markets for the Sequora core include consumer voice and wearables, aerospace and defense, automotive and industrial radar, IoT, and medical devices. The solution keeps data and AI models on the device, minimizing size, weight, and power usage. Sequora is available as licensable semiconductor IP, ready for integration into system-on-chip designs, and includes comprehensive delivery of process-portable, synthesisable RTL code and associated verification tools.
