Bangunan Sulaiman Suggested as New Filming Location

Kuala Lumpur:Film industry players have been encouraged to consider Bangunan Sulaiman, which houses the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), as a potential filming location. This suggestion was made by Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department for Law and Institutional Reform.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Azalina highlighted the building's unique architecture and historical backdrop as valuable assets for the creative industry. She humorously remarked that filmmakers are welcome to use the site, provided they pay the necessary rent, during her speech at the Arts, Popularity and Financial Survival Forum held at the AIAC Auditorium.

The government has preserved Bangunan Sulaiman for its historical significance, consistent with the international trend of situating arbitration centers in heritage buildings. Originally home to the Federal Territory Syariah Court, the building was restored and converted into the AIAC headquarters, having served this purpose since 2014. It was declared a National Heritage Site in 2018.

Azalina also emphasized that the AIAC offers alternative dispute resolution options, like arbitration and mediation, which can be beneficial for creative industry professionals dealing with contract disputes related to services, production, or supplies.

Meanwhile, Datuk Dr. Hans Isaac, chairman of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), praised Bangunan Sulaiman for its historical and architectural significance. He urged the public not to overlook such heritage structures in favor of modern architecture, underscoring the importance of these buildings as a source of national pride.
