MAPIM Launches Campaign to Raise RM5 Million for Gaza Winter Aid

Kuala Lampur:The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (MAPIM) has initiated the Gaza Winter Humanitarian Aid Campaign 2026, aiming to collect RM5 million in donations to assist Palestinians in preparation for the winter season.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAPIM president Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid announced that the campaign was launched in light of the anticipated challenges in Gaza due to the approaching winter, which will coincide with Ramadan. The campaign intends to gather the funds over a five-month period, concluding around April or May of the following year, to provide essentials such as food, warm clothing, medicines, tents, and clean water.

The aid distribution will commence at the end of October, with a subsequent phase in mid-November, and will continue until April 2027. To ensure effective distribution, MAPIM plans to channel funds through legitimate local partners in Gaza, support local NGO projects, collaborate with international agencies, and utilize physical delivery routes.

Actor and ST Rosyam Mart branch operator Datuk Rosyam Nor, also known as Mohamed Noor Shamsuddin, has pledged his full support for the campaign. ST Rosyam Mart is contributing RM100,000 to the initiative, with promotional materials to be displayed at all of its 10 outlets. Additionally, Rosyam Nor proposed the 'RM10 Seorang Rakyat Malaysia' initiative, encouraging contributions from Malaysians at ST Rosyam Mart locations and through his social media platforms.
