Kuala lumpur: National para-athletics development squad member Muhammad Hafiq Hizan Norizan, popularly known as Balau, clinched his second gold medal at the Selangor Para Malaysia Games (Para SUKMA) after winning the men's T46 200 metres (m) event today. Competing at the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Stadium in Shah Alam, Balau delivered a remarkable performance, crossing the finish line in 23.78 seconds (s) and breaking the Games record in the process. Sabah's Paijol Benhar claimed silver with a time of 24.09s, while Terengganu's Ahmad Solihim earned bronze, finishing in 25.14s.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this victory raises Balau's personal tally to two gold medals at this edition of the Games, following his triumph in the 400m yesterday. "I was targeting the Games record because yesterday I managed to break the record in the 400m. So I became more confident about breaking the 200m record as well," he said when met after today's race. Balau, who joined the national development squad only three months ago, expressed his hopes of maintaining his momentum in tomorrow's 100m event. "I am targeting gold in the 100m tomorrow. Breaking the record will be a little more difficult," he added, revealing his aspiration to represent Malaysia at next year's Malaysian-hosted ASEAN Para Games.

In other events, Selangor's Muhammad Noorhelmie Mohd Rabi won the men's T12 200m for athletes with visual impairment, clocking 23.1s. His Selangor teammate, Muhamad Afiq Mohamad Ali Hanafiah, took silver with a time of 24.030s, and Kedah's Haris Mursyidi claimed bronze in 24.31s. Meanwhile, Sabah athlete Jericho Hedryld Harry triumphed in the men's F46 discus throw, achieving a distance of 28 metres (m). Host state athlete Muhammad Haris Mohd Hashim took silver with 27.52m, while Johor's Muhamad Zahir Zulkefli secured bronze with a throw of 27.16m.
