Kuching: A section of the external ceiling structure along the inner lane of the pick-up and drop-off area at Kuching International Airport (KIA) was affected by heavy rainfall and strong winds today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) stated in a release that the affected area had been secured, with teams on site conducting safety inspections and coordinating necessary response measures.

'Our primary concern is the safety and wellbeing of passengers, airport users, and staff,' MAHB emphasized in their statement.

Despite the structural damage, MAHB confirmed that airport operations remained ongoing, with efforts concentrated on ensuring safe access to the terminal and minimizing inconvenience to passengers.
