Kuala Lampur:A Sessions Court has issued an arrest warrant for Pui Tiong Lam, the owner of a subsidised cooking oil business, after he failed to appear to face charges related to record-keeping for the controlled item.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Judge Nik Habri Muhamad ordered the warrant due to Pui's absence from court proceedings without a valid reason. Pui is charged with 41 counts of failing to maintain stock records for subsidised cooking oil and one count of failing to produce necessary documents.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Edabayu Subhan from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) stated that the prosecution had not received a medical certificate from Pui to justify his absence, prompting the application for the arrest warrant to ensure his court appearance.
The court has scheduled the case for mention on November 5.
