Kuala Lampur:According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Perak government is contemplating offering incentives to its athletes who secure medals at the ongoing Asian Games in Japan. National sprinter Muhammad Azeem Mohd Fahmi is one of the promising athletes expected to achieve a podium finish for Malaysia.

Datuk Khairudin Abu Hanipah, chairman of the State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee, noted that 33 athletes from Perak are representing Malaysia at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. He expressed optimism for their performances, citing Muhammad Azeem's previous bronze medal as an indicator of potential success.

He also mentioned that other athletes from Perak are participating in team sports such as hockey, cricket, and rugby, with hopes that they will perform well and secure medals. The state government is considering the incentives based on predetermined decisions and approvals.

Khairudin highlighted that the athletes' progress is being closely monitored, particularly as many are still in the early stages of their competitions, especially in team events.

In a related event, the Perak Tengah district-level 'Jelajah AIM TVET with Cikgu Din' Programme is set to focus on modern agrotechnology in line with the district's specialization under the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Plan. Scheduled for Saturday at Dewan Terbuka Ngah Sagor, Parit, the event aims to attract about 1,000 visitors and promote Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a viable choice, especially in the agrotechnology sector.

The program will feature skills exhibitions, demonstrations, booths from higher learning institutions, sharing sessions with TVET icons, and free openings of National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) accounts for the first 150 participants.
