Shanghai:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to engage with Chinese industry leaders and deliver a keynote address at the WorldSkills Conference 2026 today. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar's schedule includes a roundtable business meeting with 21 Chinese industry captains to attract quality investments into Malaysia. Following this, he will attend the WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 opening ceremony, officiated by Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre. WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, held from September 22 to 27, is an international event showcasing technical and vocational skills. Malaysia has 22 participants competing in 21 skill categories under the 'Road to Gold' agenda, aiming for the country's first gold medal at this global competition. The event sees participation from about 1,400 skilled young people from over 65 countries and regions competing in 64 skill categories. In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will travel by high-speed train to Hangzhou, the c apital of Zhejiang province. There, he will conduct business meetings with tech giants such as AgiBot, Huawei, and Alibaba Group, as well as automotive company Geely and ZTE Group. A welcoming dinner hosted by Li will follow. Anwar is also scheduled to launch the Mandarin translation of the book 'Rethinking Ourselves: Justice, Reform, and Ignorance in Postnormal Times'. China has been Malaysia's largest trading partner for 17 consecutive years, with total bilateral trade reaching US$113.82 billion from January to August this year. The Prime Minister's three-day working visit to Shanghai and Hangzhou began on Tuesday.
