Shanghai:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held meetings with senior management from five major Chinese companies, with AgiBot Innovation announcing a potential investment of RM1 billion by 2035, along with the creation of 5,000 jobs.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, ZTE Corporation outlined plans for initiatives and investments amounting to RM170 million to advance Malaysia's digital transformation, creating more quality career opportunities for locals.

The discussions with other companies, including Alibaba Group, Geely Automobile Holdings, and Huawei Technologies, focused on exploring new investment opportunities and strategic collaborations in high-impact sectors such as humanoid robotics, digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, EV technology, and e-commerce.

Anwar noted that talks with Alibaba Group also covered expanding market access for Malaysian products, especially those from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the national halal industry, to Chinese and global markets through Alibaba's digital ecosystem.

He emphasized the MADANI Government's commitment to attracting high-quality investments, empowering local talent, and creating skilled job opportunities to boost economic prosperity.

The Prime Minister's visit to China, which includes stops in Shanghai and Hangzhou, underscores the significance of Malaysia's trade relationship with China, its largest trading partner for 17 consecutive years, with bilateral trade totaling US$113.82 billion (RM456.68 billion) from January to August this year.
