AI-Powered App AcroSeeker Enhances Crop Management for Malaysian Farmers

Sarawak:AcroSeeker, an AI-driven application, is aiding farmers in managing crop health by accurately identifying crop issues and suggesting suitable pesticide solutions, which can help reduce excessive chemical usage.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Alan Yeow, the Head of Product Development and Innovation at Agricultural Chemicals (M) Sdn Bhd, stated that the application, developed with Japanese technology, is adapted for Malaysia's agricultural conditions. It assists with crops such as padi, vegetables, durian, and oil palm.

Farmers can use their smartphones to capture images of affected crops, which the application analyzes to identify problems and recommend solutions. This technology is vital as it helps farmers differentiate between pest infestations, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies, preventing misdiagnosis and inappropriate pesticide use.

Yeow highlighted that correctly identifying the type and severity of infestations allows farmers to tackle crop problems more effectively and reduces environmental harm from excessive chemical use. Traditionally, farmers rely on advice from agricultural vendors, although crop issues may have multiple underlying causes.

AcroSeeker also assists farmers in finding nearby suppliers of recommended products, aligning with efforts to make farming more precise and sustainable. This ensures that farmers have the information needed to make informed decisions, ultimately reducing waste and protecting the environment.

The application was officially launched by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Agricultural Chemicals booth during his visit.
