Ahmad Martadha Appointed UUM’s 11th Vice-Chancellor

Universiti utara malaysia: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Prof Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed has been appointed as the 11th Vice-Chancellor of UUM, effective yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) announced in a statement that Ahmad Martadha, aged 57, holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, United States. He further pursued his academic journey by obtaining a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Indiana State University, USA, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the same discipline from Southern Illinois University.

Ahmad Martadha's extensive experience in university leadership and governance is well-documented, having held several strategic positions at UUM. Notably, he served as Dean of Student Development from 2005 to 2008 and later as Dean (Student Development and Entrepreneurship) and Director of Strategic Planning and Quality at UUM's College of Law, Government and International Studies from 2005 to 2013.

The ministry highlighted that his expertise in public administration, along with his experience in institutional leadership, positions him well to guide UUM. His role is expected to be pivotal in enhancing the culture of knowledge transfer and in achieving the university's vision of becoming a leading management institution with national and international competitiveness.

The ministry also conveyed its deepest appreciation to Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Fo'ad Sakdan for his previous leadership and service to UUM.
