Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed grief over the death of his close friend, Cikgu Abas Awang, who died yesterday. In a Facebook post today, he described Abas's passing as a great loss, especially to the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (KEADILAN) family in Pahang.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted Abas's contributions, sacrifices, and commitment to the struggle and to human development, which will continue to be remembered by those who knew him and stood alongside him. Anwar, along with his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, conveyed their prayers for mercy upon Abas's soul, forgiveness of his sins, and for his placement among righteous servants.
Anwar also extended his prayers for strength, patience, and resilience to be bestowed upon Cikgu Abas Awang's family as they cope with the loss. Abas, who was a former PKR candidate for the Bera parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15), passed away at his home in Section 4, Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor.
Abas had led PKR's Education Bureau about a decade ago and remained active with Pahang PKR until his passing.
