Issue Of Negeri Sembilan Rulership Should Be Resolved Through Dialogue – Ahmad Zahid

Kuala lumpur: Issues related to the rulership of Negeri Sembilan should be resolved through dialogue, stated Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. He emphasized that such an approach would be more appropriate than taking the matter to court, highlighting the importance of respecting the Negeri Sembilan Council of Justice and Laws (DKU).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zahid expressed that respecting the sovereign institution of the DKU is crucial, and negotiations without resorting to court proceedings would be the best solution. His comments came during a press briefing following the opening ceremony of National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Day 2026.

In related news, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reiterated the Federal Government's recognition of the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir. Anwar affirmed the commitment to upholding the sovereignty of the Malay Rulers' institution, emphasizing the need to protect the dignity of the royal institution by adhering to all prescribed procedures and regulations.

Separately, Ahmad Zahid, also the Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, mentioned that the seat allocation for the forthcoming Johor state election is nearing completion. Further discussions with BN component parties, particularly MCA, are planned to ensure a comprehensive seat distribution arrangement. The announcement is expected to be made one week prior to nomination day.

The Election Commission (EC) disclosed that a special meeting concerning the 16th Johor state election is scheduled for June 12. Meanwhile, the official notification of the dissolution of the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly was received, with its 36 seats having been dissolved on June 5, following the dissolution of the Johor State Legislative Assembly on June 1.
