46kg Of Roses From India Seized For Lacking Import Permit – AKPS

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) seized three boxes of fresh roses weighing 46 kilogrammes that were imported without an Import Permit from the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (MAQIS) during an inspection at the KLIA Cargo Free Commercial Zone (FCZ) yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, AKPS issued a statement today revealing that the roses were brought in from India without the necessary approval and permits from MAQIS. The agency emphasized that this act is under investigation as per Section 11(1) of the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011 (Act 728), which deals with the importation of agricultural commodities without a valid MAQIS Import Permit.

The statement further noted that all seized items have been detained for further action in compliance with established procedures and legal provisions. AKPS also highlighted its ongoing commitment to enhancing controls on the entry of agricultural goods to protect the country's biosecurity.
