LENGGONG: A total of 300 participants and media representatives from more than 20 countries will participate in the Rainforest Challenge (RFC) Grand Final 2024, which will take place from November 29 to December 9, here.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee stated that the event will feature vehicle categories such as R1 Prototype, R2 Semi Modified, R3 Standard, and ATV. Participants and international media representatives from countries including Malaysia, Poland, Latvia, Germany, Russia, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Singapore will be involved with 150 four-wheel drive vehicles.

The RFC, now in its 27th edition, has put Malaysia in the global spotlight, ranking third among the 10 toughest motorsports events worldwide, alongside renowned competitions like the Dakar Rally, BAJA Race, Le Mans 24hr Race, and Isle of Man Race. Loh highlighted the significance of this ranking during a
press conference following the launch of the Rainforest Challenge 2024 Programme at Dataran Lenggong.

The event will navigate routes around Lenggong, including areas within the Piah Forest Reserve (Terkop), Piah Forest Reserve (Kg Sanum Pos Poi), and Korbu Forest Reserve (Ulu Kuang). These routes will offer participants a challenging path that tests them both mentally and physically, complemented by the unique natural ambiance of the area.

Loh expressed hope that hosting such extreme sports events would elevate Lenggong’s status as a hub for extreme sports, not only in Malaysia but also internationally. Past events like the Rimba Raid Lenggong 2024 and the Lenggong Iron Bound A1 World Cup Championship have also contributed to this vision, drawing active participants from the extreme motorsports community.

The RFC is anticipated to boost Lenggong’s reputation and bring economic benefits to the local community, contributing to the area’s development as a destination for extreme sports enthusiasts.
