KUCHING: About 51 percent of the entire Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) workforce are women, Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang said. The percentage indicates that MARA is actively supporting the empowerment of women as contributors to the nation’s development.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MARA employment statistics as of October 10 this year reveal that 51 percent of MARA employees are women, totaling 5,812 out of 11,349 employees. Datuk Rubiah Wang highlighted these statistics during her speech at the Borneo zone Biznet Fiesta, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to gender inclusivity.

Datuk Rubiah Wang also reminded attendees that the Federal Government had previously announced several initiatives as part of the agenda to empower women. Under Budget 2025, RM650 million has been allocated to support women and youth in entrepreneurial fields. This allocation aims to encourage diversity and inclusivity within the business landscape.

“This initiative reflects the rising
recognition of the role of women in the economic and entrepreneurial development,” said Datuk Rubiah. She further stated that the availability of financial support through institutions like MARA and other financial bodies not only provides easy access to capital but also empowers women entrepreneurs to expand their businesses and innovate in their fields.
