Yusnor Ef’s Passing Marks Significant Loss to Nusantara Music Scene

Kuala Lumpur: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has described the passing of renowned lyricist Yusnor Ef as a significant loss to the local and wider Nusantara music scene. Yusnor Ef, known for his contributions during the golden era of Malay songs in Singapore, left an indelible mark on the industry.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Yusnor, whose real name was Mohamed Noor Mohamed Yusofe, was a pivotal figure in the Malay music industry. His works have had a lasting impact and are expected to be remembered for generations to come. Fahmi highlighted Yusnor’s role not only as an artiste but also as a guardian of cultural and linguistic heritage.

In a Facebook post, Fahmi extended his condolences to Yusnor’s family and expressed a prayer for divine forgiveness and righteousness for the late lyricist. Media reports confirmed that Yusnor passed away at 2 am at Sengkang Hospital in Singapore, at the age of 87.
