Putra Heights Fire: Haier Contributes RM40,000 To Lighten Medical Cost Of Victims

Putra Heights: Leading home appliance and electronics company Haier Electrical Appliances Sdn Bhd (Haier) has donated RM40,000 to help pay for the hospital medical costs of victims of the gas pipeline explosion and fire in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor Investment, Trade and Mobility exco Ng Sze Han stated that the donation would be directed towards victims who are in dire need of assistance, with a priority given to those who are still undergoing treatment in hospitals. Ng emphasized that medical expenses have become a significant burden for many of the victims. Representing the state government, Ng discussed with Haier about the contribution, which will be allocated specifically for medical costs. The distribution of these funds will be managed by Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) Zone 16 councillor Lee Jen Uyin, who is planning a visitation program to identify eligible recipients.

Ng received the donation on behalf of the state government from Haier Malaysia managing director Fan Jing at a ceremony held at the Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru Community Hall in Subang Jaya. Fan Jing expressed his company’s full trust in the state government and MBSJ to manage the distribution of the donation effectively to those in need. He acknowledged that the state government and MBSJ possess comprehensive data on each victim, which will facilitate the appropriate distribution of the assistance based on necessity.

The gas pipeline fire incident occurred on April 1, causing significant damage with flames reaching heights of 30 meters and temperatures soaring to 1,000 degrees Celsius. The fire impacted 219 houses in the surrounding area, leaving many in urgent need of support.
