Johor bahru: Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation (YSIJ) has strengthened its community welfare efforts by distributing 100,000 face masks, school supplies, and free spectacles in conjunction with the Johor Family Day Festival at Dataran Bandaraya here today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the face mask initiative, carried out in collaboration with Eco-Shop, was introduced due to prevailing environmental conditions after the event was postponed from its original Sept 16 date due to haze, according to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's official Facebook page.

The festival, a brainchild of Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, was held simultaneously across four districts: Johor Bahru, Kluang, Mersing, and Segamat.

During the event, YSIJ presented school supplies to 10 underprivileged students and distributed 10 pairs of free spectacles through a strategic partnership with Season Optical at its special booth.

The spectacle presentation is part of a broader sponsorship programme targeting 4,000 pairs of spectacles for selected students in schools across the state.

The distribution of face masks and aid was rolled out comprehensively across all four participating districts.

Earlier, Raja Zarith Sofiah officiated the launch of the festival, accompanied by Che' Puan Mahkota Khaleeda Johor and Tunku Tun Aminah Sultan Ibrahim. Her Majesty also toured the exhibition booths, including the YSIJ booth, and spent time mingling with the public.
