Kuala lumpur: Musical theatre production 'Mansur and Liu' tonight demonstrated that the standard of local productions has reached a level to be proud of, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said. He highlighted that this development reflects the strengthening of culture as part of the country's economic growth and development. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized the importance of cultural growth alongside economic development. "When we talk about growth and economic development, we also talk about strengthening culture. Tonight, we have proven that local productions have reached a level that we can be proud of," he stated after watching the performance at Panggung Sari, Istana Budaya. Anwar lauded 'Mansur and Liu' as one of the best productions he has seen within the country, suggesting it can stand alongside productions from elsewhere in the world. He stressed the need for continued support from both the government and the private sector to ensure the growth of local arts productions. T he Prime Minister expressed gratitude for witnessing the capabilities of local arts firsthand, extending thanks to veteran singer and composer Datuk M. Nasir and all involved in the production. Directed by Nasir, 'Mansur and Liu' narrates the story of the meeting between Sultan Mansur Shah and Princess Liu of the Ming Dynasty, inspired by accounts in 'Sulalatus Salatin' (Malay Annals). The musical is being staged from September 10 to 20.
