Melaka: Proposals from the inaugural session of the Melaka Youth State Assembly 2025, which commenced today, are set to play a pivotal role in shaping the 2026 Melaka Budget, as announced by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh. The assembly, spanning three days, is focused on integrating youth aspirations into the state’s policy and program frameworks.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chief Minister Ab Rauf emphasized the importance of considering these youth-driven proposals to ensure they have a tangible impact on the younger population of Melaka. He stated, “The state government remains optimistic about giving every proposal and resolution from the assembly serious attention and effective follow-up action so their impact reaches youth across all levels throughout the state.”
Ab Rauf further highlighted the need for a broader focus this year, encompassing human capital development, strengthening the youth economy, technology mastery, and empowering youth leadership. He shared these insights during the assembly’s opening at Anjung Makmur, Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB).
The event was attended by notable figures including Melaka Youth State Assembly Speaker Datuk Khaidhirah Abu Zahar, members of the state executive council, and State Secretary Datuk Azhar Arshad. During the session, 34 members of the Youth State Assembly, with six appointed directly by the Chief Minister, were sworn in.
Chief Minister Ab Rauf called for the full utilization of the youth state assembly as a strategic platform to establish a clear, inclusive, and realistic youth agenda that aligns with the current needs and future direction of the state. He remarked, “This three-day assembly is a vital platform for members to discuss current issues, challenges, and aspirations of Melaka’s young generation across all executive council portfolios.”
He expressed hope that the assembly would inspire enhanced cooperation among its members, facilitating a collaborative effort between Melaka’s youth and leaders to elevate the state’s development.
