Kuala lumpur: Xplorasi Warisan KL: Merdeka 2026 Edition, organised by Warisan KL, led participants on a heritage trail through Kuala Lumpur's historic landmarks, tracing the nation's journey to independence. Held in conjunction with National Day, the programme began at Stadium Merdeka, the site of the 1957 independence declaration, before concluding at Dataran Merdeka, where the Federation of Malaya's flag was first raised.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, participants had to complete various missions, puzzles, and heritage-themed creative challenges. In a statement today, Warisan KL expressed that the event provided an opportunity for participants to experience Kuala Lumpur as a living heritage city, shaped by its diverse cultures and communities over generations.
Warisan KL Joint Secretariat representative Datuk Mohamed Nasri Sallehuddin highlighted that the programme allowed Malaysians to intimately explore the city's history and appreciate the stories, sites, and individuals that have contributed to the nation's identity. Participants witnessed how heritage is kept alive through communities, traditions, and shared experiences that continue to define Malaysia today.
Mohamed Nasri, alongside PNB Merdeka Ventures chief executive officer Datuk Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim, officially commenced the event at Stadium Merdeka. The prize-giving ceremony, held during the Ambang Merdeka event last night, saw the attendance of Federal Territories Department deputy director-general Farah Adura Hamidi, Kuala Lumpur City Hall's Department of Culture, Arts, Tourism and Sports director Faizal Mahmood, and other stakeholders.
Team Baby G NST emerged victorious, claiming RM4,000 in cash, with KITA TRY and Baru Nak Up BERNAMA securing second and third places, winning RM3,000 and RM2,000, respectively. Azanis Shahila Aman of Team Baby G NST remarked on the meaningfulness of the victory, noting the team's exploration of various locations and challenges around Kuala Lumpur.
