Kuala lumpur: The AI for the People programme, which is open to Malaysians aged between 18 and 30 with a three-month free subscription, provides opportunities for youth to deepen their digital skills.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, private sector employee Nurul Farhanah Abd Wahab, 28, sees the facility as a way to reduce expenses for youth who are likely to use artificial intelligence (AI) technology today. She stated, "Previously, if we wanted to use AI applications, we had to pay for them, and even then, access was limited." She hailed the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of free AI subscriptions for young people as a significant benefit, especially for those who need to multitask and work quickly.
Twenty-six-year-old civil servant N. Kuvineshwaren also acknowledged the programme's value, noting that it provides meaningful opportunities for young people to explore AI technology. He said, "This free three-month subscription not only gives us access to premium tools, but also encourages us to improve our digital skills in preparation for our future careers."
Mehamad Ezanie Mehamad Noor from the Perak Student Secretariat praised the initiative as a very good opportunity for Malaysian youth. As the Bukit Gantang Youth chairman, he emphasized that in a world increasingly driven by technology and AI, digital skills have become a necessity. He highlighted that the free learning opportunity allows 100,000 youths to become familiar with, learn, and use AI more confidently. Mehamad Ezanie added, "This is the time for youth not only to become technology users, but also creators and drivers of the country's digital economy."
Prime Minister Anwar, during his 2026 National Day Address, announced six immediate initiatives, including those related to AI, which will come into effect tomorrow. The AI for the People programme, the third initiative, offers a free three-month subscription to various selected AI applications and software, including IlmuChat, Gemini Enterprise, Wonderclip, and MuleRun, for 100,000 participants who successfully complete and pass all designated course modules.
