Kuala lumpur: The Works Ministry has pledged to accelerate the implementation of delayed development projects across the country, aiming to ensure they are completed on or ahead of schedule. Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Maslan highlighted the current status of these projects, noting that approximately one-third are behind schedule, another third are progressing as planned, and the remaining third have already been completed ahead of schedule.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Maslan expressed his goal to minimize the number of delayed projects, transitioning them into the on-schedule category and pushing those on schedule to be completed ahead of time. He emphasized the importance of each project to the public and urged ministry officers to prioritize timely completion.

The ministry is actively working to address project delays through engagement sessions with senior officials and the Public Works Department (JKR), including participants from Sarawak and Sabah. Ahmad Maslan pointed out that challenges such as land acquisition and utility relocation commonly cause delays at the planning stage, and he urged a focus on finding solutions rather than excuses.

He reiterated the ministry's commitment to adhering to project timelines, acknowledging that these can vary based on the scope and stage of each project.
