Where People Come First – Boehringer Ingelheim Malaysia’s Award-Winning Employee-Centric Culture

Kuala Lumpur: Boehringer Ingelheim Malaysia’s unwavering commitment to leadership excellence and individual career development has once again earned the company recognition as a Top Employer in the Malaysian market for the seventh consecutive year by the Netherlands-based Top Employers Institute.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the company’s senior technical manager (Companion Animal, Animal Health), Dr. Eddie Tan, expressed that the recognition reflects the organisation’s continuous efforts to create an empowering work environment where employees are supported to grow, lead, and thrive. “This recognition truly reflects the company’s values and how it invests in its people,” he stated, emphasizing the robust programmes that prioritize career progression, leadership growth, and employee well-being.

Dr. Tan noted that the company’s commitment to talent development has significantly transformed his own career, elevating him from a technical manager to a senior technical manager capable of driving impact across borders. He highlighted the importance of the tools, trust, and opportunities provided by Boehringer Ingelheim, allowing employees to develop alongside the company’s mission to advance animal health.

Boehringer Ingelheim Malaysia’s district sales manager Lee Yuan Ding shared that the company’s dedication to employee development is evident not only through its structured leadership programmes but also in the nurturing environment it creates for continuous learning and growth. She emphasized the company’s strong focus on providing employees with opportunities to upskill and apply their knowledge in real-world settings through formal workshops and training sessions.

Meanwhile, head of sales Kevin Ha, who double-hatted as the head of marketing in 2024, discussed the critical role of empowerment and trust within the team to deliver success. He pointed out that the support from supervisors and peers has been essential in managing the complexities of dual roles, fostering an open and inclusive environment that enhances problem-solving capabilities.

Dr. Tan also stressed Boehringer Ingelheim’s people-centric approach, which fosters a collaborative and innovative environment across teams. By valuing every voice and aligning around a shared purpose, the company ensures its teams can swiftly adapt to emerging challenges. Ha echoed these sentiments, noting that patient-centricity remains at the heart of their operations, ensuring patients have access to necessary treatments.

Boehringer Ingelheim’s focus on employee well-being has created a supportive and resilient workplace culture, according to Ha. Initiatives such as the ASKANCares programme and flexible work arrangements reflect the company’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, promoting respect for diverse perspectives and ensuring all employees feel valued.

Lee shared personal experiences of the company’s progressive policies supporting work-life balance and family care, including Family Care Leave and Adoption Leave. She highlighted the company’s genuine care for employees, empowering them to thrive professionally while balancing personal and family needs.

This people-first approach is a reflection of Boehringer Ingelheim’s broader commitment to transforming lives for generations, underpinned by its strategic framework, Winning with People, which focuses on supporting, investing in, and growing each individual. By prioritizing employees’ needs, Boehringer Ingelheim continues to foster a culture where purpose and potential go hand in hand.
