Welfare Among Key Focus Areas Of WRUR Programme In Melaka – Exco

Melaka: Welfare aspects are among the key focus areas in the implementation of the Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (WRUR) Programme, ensuring that target groups and those in need receive due assistance and are not left behind in aid distribution. State Women, Family and Community Development Committee chairman Datuk Kalsom Nordin emphasized the integrated efforts of various agencies under her portfolio to reach out to these groups effectively.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, three key agencies are being mobilized as part of this initiative: the Social Welfare Department (JKM), the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), and the State Women's Development Office (PPW). Each agency plays a specific role, with JKM acting as the main pillar of people's welfare through the Ziarah Kasih programme. LPPKN focuses on family health, while PPW empowers women through various programmes under the WRUR initiative.

Datuk Kalsom Nordin highlighted the variability of welfare aid recipients across state constituencies. She cited the Pengkalan Batu state constituency as an example, where more than 200 households had previously received necessary assistance. Her remarks came during the opening ceremony of the Ayer Molek state constituency-level WRUR Programme, which was officiated by State Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communications Committee chairman Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan, and attended by Ayer Molek assemblyman Datuk Rahmad Mariman.

Kalsom further noted that the WRUR Programme serves as a crucial platform for ensuring the continuity of welfare programmes in Melaka. Most of the target groups are welfare aid recipients, and the initiative aims to provide sustained support, ensuring they do not face any issues during the period they receive assistance.
