Weak 3.5 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Ranau

Ranau:A weak earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale shook the Panginatan area of Ranau at 1057 am today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) reported that the earthquake's epicentre was pinpointed at coordinates 5.9° North and 116.7° East, with a depth of 13 kilometres. The location was approximately 14 kilometres south of Ranau.

Residents in the Ranau district and nearby areas reportedly felt the tremors. MetMalaysia assured that it will continue to monitor the situation closely following the earthquake.

In a related effort, MetMalaysia has asked those who experienced the tremors to fill out a questionnaire available at the official link https//forms.gle/cYMVjU7DYeKBV3ZbA to help gather field data.

Ranau, a district in the interior of Sabah, is situated 106 kilometres east of Kota Kinabalu and is known for being home to Mount Kinabalu.
