UTP Maintains Top Spot as Malaysia’s Leading Private University

Kuala Lumpur:Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) has solidified its position as Malaysia's top private university, ranking 242nd globally out of 2,297 institutions in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027. This achievement keeps UTP securely within the world's Top 250 universities, reflecting its advancements in educational integration, applied research, and global engagement.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, UTP's president, Mohamed Firouz Asnan, highlighted Industry as the university's highest-scoring pillar, with a score increasing from 94.5 to 95.8. Additionally, the university's International Outlook score reached 77.6.

Mohamed Firouz emphasized that while rankings provide a useful benchmark, UTP remains focused on educational relevance and real-world impact. He stated that the institution is driven by its purpose to ensure education's relevance, research addressing real needs, and partnerships creating value beyond the university.

The institution's priorities include enhancing research quality, international collaborations, and citation impact. Mohamed Firouz expressed a commitment to turning knowledge into practical solutions and preparing graduates to excel as professionals and leaders.
